HANDS ON LOCAL
Lend a hand, know a place.
HANDS ON LOCAL introduces small, hands-on ways to spend time with the people of rural Japan — walking with a local guide, joining a community clean-up, or helping on a farm.
Most listings on our Japanese site are run in Japanese only. On this page we show only those whose organizers say that visitors who don't speak Japanese can join, and we tell you honestly where Japanese is still needed.

About HANDS ON LOCAL
HANDS ON LOCAL is run by ODORIBA Inc., a small company in Miyagi Prefecture that runs old-house inns and a café in the countryside. We began in 2019 as RONIN BANK, connecting people who want to help with rural communities. We are not a travel agency and do not organize the tours or events listed here — each one is run by its own guide or organizer. Transport and accommodation are not included.
