A local NPO holds this beach clean-up and open-air market every month in Shichigahama, a seaside town next to Sendai. Bring things you no longer need to swap or sell, clean the beach in pairs for about an hour, then finish with snacks and a group photo. The organizer says singles, families and foreign visitors are all welcome. The event itself is run in Japanese.
